ANNOUNCEMENTS

 

CHOCOLATE BAR FUNDRAISER: I would first like to say thank you to all of those who have committed to selling a case of chocolate bars. However, this fundraiser has fallen short of our goal. So to encourage more participation, the 5th and 6th grade classes have decided to "take orders". Each homeroom will order the additional cases. If you would be willing to sell some individual $1 candy bars, or buy some for your family, PLEASE let me know how many and which kind. I need to know as soon as possible so that I can get them ordered. You can email me at bsanders@pikelib.com or send a note with your child. Thanks for all you do!

crisp
solid milk chocolate
dark chocolate

 

PTO Fundraiser - Spirit Cards - On Sale for $15 - The homeroom that has the most sales will be awarded a Pizza Party. Please support this important fundraiser.

 

Friday, October 10th: End of First Nine Weeks

 

October 13th-15th (Monday through Wednesday Only): Fall Break - no school.

 

Thursday, October 23rd: Fall Festival - 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Cafetorium. The 5th and 6th Grades will be responsible for the "Country Store". We will need parents to work at our "Country Store" in 30 minute intervals: 6:00 to 6:30, 6:30 to 7:00, 7:00 to 7:30, 7:30 to 8:00. We will need 4 parents for each interval, one from each homeroom. We will also need you to provide items for sale in the "Country Store": arts and crafts, baked goods, novelties. etc. Please mark your items with a "sale price". Your help will be critical to making this success.

 

Friday, October 31st: Homecoming at PLAS! More information later.

 

 

5th Grade Math:

 

Section 1-6 Compare Decimals, pages 36-41 and R3 and Section 1-7 Order Whole Numbers and Decimals, pages 42-47 and R4 - Test on both Sections Wednesday Oct. 8th.

Review for Chapter Test, page 55 - Test Thursday Oct. 16th, due to Fall Break.

 

 

6th Grade Math:

 

Section 2-1 Problem Solving, pages 78-79 and 675 and Section 2-2 Bar Graphs and Line Graphs,pages 81-87 and 675 - Quiz on both Sections Thursday Oct. 9th

Section 2-3 Interpret Line Graphs, pages 88-91 and 675, and Section 2-4 Stem and Leaf Plots, pages 92-95 and 67 - Quiz on both Sections TBA.

 

 

Reading:

 

Freak the Mighty Chapters 1-8, pages 1-47. Vocabulary sentences due Thursday Oct. 16th. Vocabulary and Story Test Friday Oct. 17th.

 

AR: Goals have been set for this nine weeks. Please encourage your child to read in order to reach their goal. Each nine weeks two grades will be taken for AR. One is for the percentage of goal obtained and the other is an average of the AR test grades. Goals must be met by Friday Oct. 10th.
